Ladies Singles - Sunday 9th June at Cleobury Mortimer Bowling Club

Congratulations to home player Lauren Burnside on winning the Ladies Singles Trophy, beating Stockton's Mo Parton 21-15 in the final.

There was a disappointing turnout of only five ladies on a chilly June afternoon but they treated the small crowd of locals to some excellent entertaining bowling.

Many thanks to Cleobury for the use of their immaculate green and to the card markers and measurers.

Jim Palmer Memorial - Veterans Trophy Played on 23rd June at Highley

Sixteen of the league's veterans competed for the Jim Palmer Trophy on a hot summer's day on an immaculately prepared green at Highley.

Tony Roche (Stockton) won the trophy he had previously won in 2014 with a 21-13 win in the final over Pete Driver (Islanders).

League President Bob Parry presented the trophy to Tony and Chairman John Palmer thanked everyone for playing, marking, measuring, supporting & catering and also Highley Bowling Club for the use of their facilities.

League Singles - Mark Bennett Memorial and Division 2 Qualifying

Tuesday 18th June 6.45pm scratch: Mark Bennett Memorial at Bridgnorth & Worfield, Division 2 at Shifnal. Four to qualify from each venue, only one venue for the division 2 due to lack of entries. Finals at Stockton on Sunday 21st July, Mark Bennett Memorial quarter finals start at 2pm, semi-finals of both competitions at 3pm.

Finals Sunday 21st July at Stockton

Mark Bennett Memorial Trophy

Stockton's Rob Weir went one better than last year to win the Mark Bennett Memorial Trophy beating Horsehay's Gareth Jones 21-16 in the final.
In the semi-finals, Rob beat Dave James (Shifnal) 21-16 while Gareth beat Nick Flatter (Mortimer) 21-8.

Division 2 Singles

Broseley's Matthew Pritchard beat Stockton's John Pritchard 21-12 in the final to lift the Division 2 Singles Trophy.

In the semi-finals, Matthew beat Joey Price (Chelmarsh) 21-14 and John beat Matthew's teammate Mick Rhodes 21-11.

Doubles Finals on Sunday 8th September at Highley

Many thanks to Highley for hosting the finals on a day when rain was never far away.

Division 1

Madeley pairing Nigel Evans & Simon Madeley just edged out Horsehay's Peter Burd & Gavin Bridge 21-20 in a high class final. Nigel & Simon beat Shifnal's Emma Duncan & Nathan Lacey 21-19 in their semi-final while Peter & Gavin had a bye as their teammates Rich Simmonds & Dave Brown were unable to compete.

Division 2

The final was an all Broseley affair. Gail Hall & Neil Bowen prevailed 21-18 over Mick Rhodes & Kev Carter.
Losing semi-finalists were both from Stockton: Guy Lewis & Mick Davies and John Pritchard & Steve Bishton.

Team Knockouts Played at Bridgnorth on Sunday 29th September

Division 1

In a closely fought final, Horsehay A got the better of division 1 winners Highley A by 12 shots. The result card is here. (note Highley conceded 2 shots because Andy James is a member of Bridgnorth.

Division 2

Despite home advantage and consequently having their handicap reduced by 16, Bridgnorth B were beaten in the final by division champions Stockton A who completed the double. The match card is here (Stockton also conceded 2 shots because John Pritchard is a member of Bridgnorth).
