Singles Qualifying Tuesday 18th June

27 entries for the Div 1 singles will play off at two venues, four to qualify from each. Insufficient entries have been received to require qualifying in the Div 2 competition so they will go straight through to finals day on Sunday 11th August.

Division One Qualifying

Scratch time is 6.45pm to enable a 7pm start. Four to qualify for finals day from each venue.

Qualified

Finals Sunday 11th August

Division 1

The Division one final looked to only be going one way with Rich Jones of Horsehay forging ahead early to gain a substantial 17-3 lead over Horsehay teammate Steve Reeves. However, Steve to his credit dug in and rallied to lead at 18-17 before Rich recovered to lead 20-18 but Steve was not to be denied and ran out to win a superb final.

Losing semi-finalists were Richard Simmonds of Horsehay and Dave Brown also of Horsehay.

Division 2

The Division Two title went to Guy Lewis of Stockton B who met his teammate Roger Bridge in the final.

Roger's route to the final saw him defeat father and son duo Patrick Evans snr and jnr to 18 and 16 respectively. Guy's road was a little more straightforward beating Dave Davies of Chelmarsh 21-5 and Lol Preece of Bridgnorth 21-1, Lol finding Guy's left handed style hard to follow. The final however was a lot closer with Guy eventually running out the winner 21-15.

Ladies

Mo Parton overcame Stockton teammate and League Treasurer Jeanette Bennett 21-10 in a final closer than the score suggests. in the semi-finals Jeanette defeated League secretary Lesley Burnside of Mortimer 21-11 while Mo overcame the challenge of Chelmarsh secretary Sue Jackman 21-7.

Jim Palmer Trophy Sunday 21st July

The Jim Palmer Trophy for bowlers aged 60 and over was played at Highley with 20 players taking part.

The day saw some cracking games leading to a last four featuring a 21-16 win for Phil Pack over Dave Brown and a 21-19 win for John Pritchard over Lol Preece.

The final started well for John Pritchard taking an early lead however when Phil Pack found the longer corner marks more to his liking he ran out to win 21-9.

Doubles Competitions Tuesday 6th August

Four to qualify from each venue for final's day on Sunday 25th August. Scratch time 6.45pm.
